Mobility

The aim of the Mobility workgroup (WG) is to promote mobility among Ph.D. candidates and Early Stage Researchers, and to improve conditions in which mobility is provided. Mobility is fundamental for the transfer of scientific knowledge, institutional and personal development and innovation, as well as an essential tool within the European Research Area (ERA).

The Mobility WG has been active since the very beginning of Eurodoc (2002), contributing to many activities and proposing actions and plans to facilitate European mobility. Its members have actively participated at many high-level meetings and other European or national events, contributed to the organisation of various events concerning researchers mobility, as well as to policy documents. Aside from our traditional activities related to geographical mobility and removing obstacles, according to which the WG is widely known, we are also involved in activities concerning other sorts of mobility, such as inter-sectorial (academy-industry or public-private), trans-disciplinary, etc. Mobility is recognized as a central issue for the Bologna process and its importance is also emphasized in EC’s “European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers” (http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess/index.cfm/rights/whatIsAResearcher).
