The last Eurodoc lunchtime seminar before the summer will take place Wednesday the 31st of May. Here we have the pleasure of presenting Monica Dietl, the executive director of the Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE), as a speaker.

Monica’s career(s) has spanned broadly. She obtained her PhDs from the Universities of Vienna, Austria, and Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie’, France within the field of Neuroscience  Her career has taken many turns, she was the director of the COST Association from 2016-2022, before becoming executive director of ISE.

ISE is an independent organisation of Research organisation and Learned Societies in Europe founded in 2004, of which Eurodoc is a  member. ISE is an active voice when it comes to the conditions for researchers and research in Europe, and just within the last few years ISE has stood behind several initiatives that aim to do so.

In  March 2022 ISE published a report identifying 18 policy options for stakeholders to improve the ways in which research and researchers are evaluated and rewarded, and to enable a transition to Open Science, and in September 2022 ISE launched the Manifesto for Early Career Researchers which we encourage all of you to sign as individuals as well as organisations.

For Eurodoc ISE is an important platform for advancing the conditions of research and researchers and Monica Dietl is a highly valued collaborator of ours whose inputs and reflections always provide food for thought and we are very happy that Monica has agreed to share her reflections on “” with. We hope to see many of you there and encourage you to distribute this invitation to your members and others interested in the conditions of early career researchers.

In this webinar, the issues of influence and impact techniques in science policy making will be addressed and discussed. Why a sustainable and responsible commitment is essential to contribute effectively to the shaping of research and innovation policies in Europe.
