Stipendiatorganisasjonene i Norge (SiN) is a national, politically independent association established in 2003. It brings together local doctoral, postdoctoral and other temporary researcher's organizations from universities and higher education institutions across Norway, acting as their umbrella network and collective voice.
SiN represents more than 17,000 PhD candidates and early career researchers by facilitating communication between member organizations and promoting shared interests at the national level. It engages with government consultations, university bodies, and advocacy efforts in matters related to research policy, higher education, working conditions, career development, and other areas of significance.
SiN’s members consist of PhD and postdoctoral organisations from major Norwegian institutions fostering collaboration, peer support, and knowledge exchange across campuses. Its main goals are to gather as many local associations under its umbrella, answer hearings from the ministry and assist local associations in their work.
SiN holds an Annual General Meeting where delegates from member organisations elect the board and discuss strategic direction. In addition, SiN has an advisory board of six members. These roles offer leadership and advocacy opportunities to early-career researchers nationwide.
SiN also actively contributes to Eurodoc activities, participating in annual meetings, producing reports, and sharing insights from the Norwegian early career research community.
