The WG international mobility and responsible internationalisation represents a new start to a WG that has existed within Eurodoc for many years. The WG International Mobility and Responsible Internationalisation will focus on factors that are important to enable doctoral candidates and other early-career researchers to move, collaborate and build careers across borders in a fair, inclusive, sustainable and secure way. In the coming year, the WG will discuss barriers to mobility, recognition and international cooperation, with particular attention to the European debate on the “5th freedom”, understood as the free movement of knowledge, research and innovation. The WG will also reflect on how internationalisation can remain open and responsible while addressing research security, academic freedom, ethical cooperation and the rights of international researchers.
