Founded in 2017 Association Penkala is dynamic, autonomous, nation-wide non-profit and non-political organization dedicated to connecting students, young researchers, scientists, and technologists from academia and industry, both in Croatia and internationally. Penkala emerged from a shared vision of strengthening the Croatian scientific community through collaboration and innovation.
Our Mission
Association Penkala aims to:
- Promote science, research and innovation among the general public;
- Advocate for evidence-based decision-making;
- Empower and network research community in Croatia;
- Support young researchers and technologists in their professional and career development and increase the quality of scientific research done in Croatia;
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers and with industry;
- Knowledge sharing and scientific capacity building.
Major Initiatives
- Mutimir Conference: The largest annual interdisciplinary scientific conference in Croatia, bringing together young scientists from various sectors and countries;
- Workshops and Seminars: Providing training in both soft skills and research-specific skills, addressing common challenges faced by researchers;
- Networking Events: Facilitating international networking and collaboration, with a focus on maintaining connections with Croatian researchers abroad;
- Science popularization: Through blogs, podcasts and public events such as “Znanost u prolazu” or Pint of Science.
