Founded in 1970 and recognized as a public utility in 1975, the Association Nationale des Docteurs (ANDès) is France’s national association for doctorate holders: bringing together doctorate holders from all disciplines, regardless of age, career stage, or geographic location—whether they reside in France or abroad.
With over five decades of commitment to promoting the value and visibility of the doctorate, ANDès champions the value of the doctorate and the people behind it. They believe a strong research culture and ecosystem depend on how we value and support the people who drive it - both doctoral candidates and doctorate holders.
As a key voice in shaping doctoral policy in France, ANDès is built around three core missions:
- Promoting the Doctorate: Showcasing the unique value and professional expertise of doctorate holders
- Empowering Doctorate Holders in Society: Highlighting their ability to work across sectors and contribute to solving tomorrow’s challenges
- Building and Connecting Doctorate Networks: Enhancing visibility, fostering networking, and encouraging collaboration among doctoral professionals
As a recognized national actor, ANDès plays a central role in shaping doctoral policy in France. The organisation has been represented on the French National Council for Higher Education and Research (Conseil national de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche - CNESER), the Doctoral Strategic Orientation Committee. On the international front, we are also proud members of ICoRSA.
