Eurodoc has repeatedly called for increased investments in research and higher education and advocates for an ambitious FP10 with increased funding to the MSCA and strengthening its independence. Investments in the next generation of researchers and supporting their curiosity driven research is a necessity and not a luxury, it is investment in the future. Thus, moves to introduce directionality and limiting the bottom-up driven research into programs such as the MSCA pose a threat to the research ecosystem and will reduce Europe's competitiveness rather than strengthen it.
