Webinar on February 28: Surprising Insights from a Fellow Eurodocer's Unusual Career Path

Eurodoc Webinar - Sara Pilia

Many early career researchers would like, or need to, develop their career outside of academia, but it is often difficult for them to find a way to valorise their academic knowledge and skills in that direction. This may be especially true for those working in humanities and social sciences, or for women, due to biases embedded in gendered social roles, and categories that can be vulnerable to discrimination. At the same time, supervisors focus mostly on developing career opportunities for their mentees within academia, and don't take into account other options. In this effort, advocacy and hobbies are often demonised as time-wasting activities.
