Eurodoc Annual Conference 2010

The Annual Conference of Eurodoc takes place in Vienna (Austria) from March 11-15, 2010. We have selected “Stocktaking and Prospects: Doctoral Training and Research – the Link between EHEA and ERA” as our main theme this year.

The aim of the Eurodoc conference is to provide the framework for young European researchers to meet with European political and economical leaders and to engage in a fruitful discussions on the construction of the European Research and Higher Education Areas. Moreover, given the participation of young researchers from all over Europe and from multiple disciplines, the Eurodoc conference constitutes a unique occasion for interdisciplinary communication and networking.

Almost 9000 young researchers gave insights into their situation in the doctoral phase

The main findings from the survey were presented in a first experts’ workshop, in Bonn, 27th and 28th November 2009. Over 1.5 days, researchers, stakeholders from higher education policy making, and social scientists from all over Europe discussed the survey’s first findings. Having a look at the findings from the survey, they deliver data on topics which have been frequently discussed in higher education policy making focussing on the doctoral phase in the last decade. By this Eurodoc aims to back political decision making with a sound data basis.

Two Eurodoc sessions at the Euroscience Open Forum on July, 4th

The Euroscience Open Forum, which will take 2.-7. July, 2010 is the biannual major international and multidisciplinary gathering of people working in research or related areas. It had over 6000 participants two years ago. The main organiser is our partner organisation Euroscience, but Eurodoc will organise two sessions: One on
“New comparable data on young researcher’s mobility patterns available:
What are the consequences for European Research Policy? “
and one on
“What would science look like if it were invented today? “

SPRING WIND Conference, Pécs, Hungary

Meeting representatives of Russion Union of Young Scientists. Tomsk.

5 February 2010

The 1st Forum of Young Scientists of Siberian Federal District “Knowledge Triangle” with international participation took place in Tomsk, Russia and was organized by Tomsk Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Young Scientists (RUYS) and Tomsk Polytechnic University.
It was a great opportunity for Eurodoc president to meet representatives of RUYS, get to know their organization and their work. We discussed about different issues and the meeting was very important for sharing knowledge and experience. (read more)
